Women Reporters’ House to be opened

TEHRAN – On the occasion of Reporter’s Day, August 8th, the Women Reporters’ House is to be opened with the aim of giving support to women reporters, the Iranian Women News Agency (IWNA) reported here on Saturday.

The 2nd National Congress for Recognizing the Best Women Reporters is going to be held on the same day, the report added.
The congress is going to deal with the problems which affect women reporters, the report said, adding that the top women reporters are to be honored during the congress.
Women reporters who have achieved excellence in their field will be selected by the press based on the value of their past work, Sadigheh Ghannadi managing director of IWNA and the chairperson of the congress said.
A large number of active reporters are women she maintained, adding that appreciating their value is one way of giving importance to the presence of women in Islamic society.
Women reporters who were present in the Sacred Defense War (the 8-year Iran-Iraq war, 1980-88), as well as the oldest and the youngest reporters are also going to be honored at the event, head of the Association of Women Members of Iran’s Islamic Councils added.
The one-day congress is to be held tomorrow morning in the congress hall of the Interior Ministry with the collaboration of the IWNA and the women’s bureau of the Interior Ministry, Ghannadi concluded.
