TEHRAN -- Jafar Panahi’s “Offside” opened the 22nd Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
“Offside” is an entry to the non-competition section. In addition, an Iranian short film and a documentary are also among Iranian entries to the festival.
The 10-day event screens more than 300 flicks from 56 countries at cinemas with a particular focus on Latin American films.
The first-ever Ernesto Che Guevara Award will be given to a Latin American film that carries on the spirit of the late Argentinian revolutionary. Honorary "Astor" awards will go to 91-year-old Italian director Mario Monicelli and Argentine composer Gustavo Santaolalla, fresh off his best score Oscar for "Babel."
