TEHRAN -- An English translation of the Persian novel “Missing Soluch” was recently released in the United States of America by Melville House Publishers.

Written by the much acclaimed Iranian writer Mahmud Dowlatabadi in 1979, the novel was translated by Kamran Rastegar.

“Missing Soluch” features an interesting portrait of contemporary rural life in an isolated Iranian village. It is the story of a family whose patriarch, Soluch, has recently disappeared, leaving his wife, two sons and one daughter in a state of desperation.

Several of Dowlatabadi’s works have previously been translated into Arabic, German, Swedish, and Dutch.

He is also author of “Kalidar”, “Desert Strata”, “Two Stories”, “The Trip”, “The Legend of Baba Sobhan”, “The Cowherd”, “With Shobayru”, “Solomon’s Emigration”, “Aqil”, “Man”, “Visit to the Baluch”, and “Through the Hoop”.
