Tehran Intl. Animation Festival winners named
In the domestic section, the jury awarded “Returning Home” directed by Behzad Farahat for best animation and “Zero Degree” by Omid Khoshnazar for best screenplay.
The prizes went to “Scream Room” directed by Sheida Zarrinfam and “Night Party” by Ebrahim Saketi for best experimental and advertising films respectively.
Director Majid Shakeri’s “Ario, the Little Hero” and Abdollah Alimorad’s “Once a Crow” received awards for best TV film and best children-themed film.
“The Legend of Snake-Shoulders (1): Holy Grail” directed by Hossein Moradizadeh earned the Special Jury Award while “Traveler of Horizon” by Hamid Bahrami won the Best Film Award.
The Best Music Award was presented to “Rustam and Esfandiar” directed by Mehrdad Jenabi.
The honorary diplomas were granted to “Sprout” by Farkhondeh Torabi, “No Days” by Mohammadreza Khanzad, “Something Like…” by Maryam Khalilzadeh, “The Deserted Restaurant” co-directed by Maryam Abbaspur and Ramak Amin-Kazemi, and “The Flying Grandma” by Fatemeh Gudarzi.
Gudarzi also won the Gold Statue for best children-themed film in the festival’s International section. Some other winners of the category are as follows:
Best TV Film: “Little Princess: I Don’t Want to GO to Bed” directed by Edward Foster from UK
Best Film: “My Love” by Alexander Petrov from Russia
Honorary Diploma: “Orange Marmalades” by Igna Korzhneva, “Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson” by Alexander Bubnov, and “Sara’s Tale” by Svetlana Filippova from Russia, and “The Man Who Waited” by Thodore Ushev from Canada
In addition, the Special Secretary Award was given to Torill Kove-directed “The Danish Poet” which won an Oscar for Best Animated Film at this year’s Academy Awards.
The 5th Tehran International Animation Festival was held from Feb. 25 to March 1.
