TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Energy Minister Parviz Fattah said here Saturday that four dams have been inaugurated since the start of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2006) and that 11 other dams would follow by year-end.
"According to the (ministry's) agenda for this year, 15 dams should be functional by year-end. Construction on other dams is currently underway," Fattah told reporters.
He added that `Mollasadra' and `Jegin' dams will soon become operational and embankment of `Sivand' dam has been completed.
Asked about the transfer of Iranian electricity to Georgia via Armenia, he said electricity swaps between Iran and Georgia will begin this coming winter.
"Georgia will use expensive liquefied fuel this coming winter although it used cheap natural gas to meet all its fuel needs last summer," the minister stated.
