TEHRAN -- Iranian director Sohrab Salimi intends to invite French playwright and novelist Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt to see his “Enigma Variations” in Persian, the Mehr News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Salimi’s troupe is rehearsing at his home for performances of the play they hope to give at Tehran’s City Theater Complex in the upcoming months.

“Because there is no vacant hall, we have to rehearse in my home,” Salimi said.

Actors Danial Hakimi, Afshin Hashemi, and Arezu Mohammadi will be performing “Enigma Variations”, which has been translated into Persian by Shahla Haeri and dramatized by Nader Borhani Marand.

Salimi had previously invited Schmitt to the performances of his “Partners in Crime” in Tehran last December, but he was not able to travel to Iran at the time.

Iranian director Davud Rashidi had also invited Schmitt to Tehran last January to see his version of “Partners in Crime” at the 24th Fajr International Theater Festival.
