Iran's Dadman Elected Chief of Working Group of Silk Road

TEHRAN - Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport and the Managing Director of Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rahman Dadman was elected as the Head of the Working Group of the Silk Road of the International Railways Union. The Public Relations Office of Railway of the Islamic Republic of Iran here Saturday said that the managing directors and the heads of the railways of 25 countries in their meeting in the Belgian capital elected the Dadman as the Chief of the Working Group of Silk Road of the International Railways Union. Dadman addressing the Meeting on the World Important Corridors, said that the East-West and North-South corridors link the Far-East and Central Asia to Europe and also Central Asia to open seas through the Iranian soil.
He then pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown interest in the areas of reforming the constructions, operation systems of its railways, privatization, attraction of the foreign capitals and expansion of the regional cooperation. The head of the Silk Road Working Group also made his proposals on formation of five working groups aimed at conducting research on potentials and capacities, and ways for expanding five world important corridors in order to ease issues relating to the traffic.
The participants at the meeting accepted the proposals made by Dadman and agreed to consider two transit corridors from Iran in the five directions. (IRNA)
