Egyptian Weekly: Nuke Tests Bring PG States Closer to Iran

ATHENS The nuclear tests conducted by India and Pakistan recently will help indirectly in precipitating normalization of ties between Iran and the Persian Gulf Arab states, said the semi-official Egyptian weekly Al-Ahram al-Arabi. Quoting well-informed sources, the Arab weekly said that the recent visit of Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal to Tehran - although planned before the nuclear tests - gave a quick push to normalization of ties because of security apprehensions of the Western diplomatic sources in the Persian Gulf await a substantial rapprochement between the Islamic Republic and its Arab neighbors, said the Cairo weekly in its issue published Saturday.
