Chile's first woman president unveils historic Cabinet
"This Cabinet is a historic step for equality between men and women in Chile," Bachelet told reporters Monday. "It is a reflection of the new style of government that I have proposed."
Bachelet, 54, who won the presidential polls with 53.5 percent of the vote two weeks ago, will become Chile's first woman president when she takes office March 11.
The Cabinet includes members of parties that are part of the Concertacion coalition that has led Chile since the end of Augusto Pinochet's military dictatorship in 1990.
The future ministers include Ricardo Lagos Weber, the son of outgoing President Ricardo Lagos.
Alejandro Foxley, an economist and former finance minister, was named foreign minister.
Actress Paulina Urrutia was put in charge of the Culture Ministry.
Andres Velasco, a Harvard professor with a doctorate in economics from Yale University, was named as finance minister. He is expected to maintain the fiscal policies of his predecessor, Nicolas Eyzaguirre.
