UNITED NATIONS, New York Iran's protest note to the U.S. State Department on violation of Iranian waters by American helicopters and vessels in last August was published as a UN Security Council document on Tuesday. The protest note was sent by Iran's Interest Section in Washington to Pakistan's Embassy in the United States on January 5 for delivery to U.S. State Department. According to the note, a number of American helicopters, three military vessels and a dutch tugboat violated Iranian waters to salvage an American helicopter crashed in the Persian Gulf on August 16.

The crew of the U.S. Navy helicopter were rescued. Protesting such unjustifiable moves by American Navy vessels, Iran called for cessation of such measures which contradict international and regional security laws and violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. (IRNA)
