Iran-Piroozi Joins National Sea Squadron

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – Iran’s new oceangoing container ship, Iran-Piroozi, joined national sea trading squadron on Tuesday during a special ceremony at Shahid Rajaee Dock, Bandar Abbas.

Iran-Piroozi, which maintains a TEU (Twenty foot Equivalent Unit) 2500 capacity, is the first ship built within a cooperative project between Iran and Germany. The contract was signed by Iranian Shipping Organization and the German AKER MTV Company.

“It seems that the first joint project with a German Company has been a great success,” said Technical Deputy of Iran’s Shipping Organization Mohammad Moqaddami Fard in the ceremony. Expert surveys prove that the ship is of high, unique quality, he stated.

He lauded Iranian engineers for their remarkable contribution to the project.

Iran-Piroozi is reported to be of 207 meters in length, 29.8 meters in width, 16.4 meters in depth, with 23.3 knots of speed to carry cargos in a full TEU 2500 capacity. ER/IS END MNA
