Mazandaran Exports 4,000 Tons of Agriculture Products

SARI, Mazandaran Province -- Over 4,000 tons of agriculture products of which $1.922 million worth have been exported from Iranian northern province of Mazandaran in the first five month of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21).

The majority of the farm products consist of kiwi, citrus fruits, raisins, fruits, and tobacco, said the provincial Agricultural Jihad Organization here Tuesday.

The province has an annual average harvest of over six million tons valued at Rls.6,000 billion, IRNA reported. .

Iran has been hard at work to boost its non-oil exports including its agricultural products.

Iran's Customs Administration reported here Wednesday that over 330,800 tons of agricultural products valued at $418 million were exported in the first five month of this year.

The exports were 7.2 percent and 48.9 percent higher in terms of weight and value respectively compared to the figure for the same period last year.

In the same period, the average per tons price of exports stood at $1,263 which was close to 38 percent higher compared to the amount recorded in the first five month in the previous Iranian calendar year of 1381.

In addition, the share of the agricultural exports' weight and value in the county's total non-oil exports stood at 5.7 percent and 20.4 percent respectively.

The total value of non-oil exports were $2.046 billion, which showed a 21.8 percent rise compared to the figure of $1.678 million registered in the said period last year, the Customs Administration, reported.
