Kuwait-Iran Ties Strong: Kuwaiti Official

KUWAIT CITY -- A Kuwaiti government spokesman here Sunday termed Iran-Kuwait relations as 'good and strong", IRNA reported.

Speaking at the end of the weekly cabinet meeting, Mohammed Daifallah Sharar said that during the session Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad al-Sabah gave a report on his recent meeting with his Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharrazi.

"The Iranian foreign minister's visit was made within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations" he said.

Kamal Kharrazi arrived in Kuwait City last Monday on an official visit to discuss expansion of bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments, the ongoing situation in Iraq in particular.

Heading a political delegation, the Iranian minister was welcomed by his Kuwaiti counterpart, Iran's ambassador to Kuwait and a number of Kuwaiti officials.

During his one-day stay, Kharrazi met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Muhammad al-Sabah.
