In the ceremony, which was attended by a number of high-ranking officials from both states, the Afghan president expressed sincere appreciation for the hospitality accorded him and his delegation by the Iranian government and nation.

The visit is capped by a trilateral agreement signed between representatives of Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan on establishment of a transit link between these Central Asian states and Iran via Afghanistan and opening a gateway for these landlocked states to international waters.
