TEHRAN -- In a message to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Majlis deputy representing Assyrian Christians has announced that due to the coincidence of New Year with the mourning ceremonies for Imam Hussein (AS), the master of the martyrs, the Assyrians would not hold their annual Nisan Sport and Cultural Festival this year.

In the message he wrote that Jesus Christ (AS) said: "Share in your neighbors' grieving and happiness."

"Hence, we express our sympathy with you and the people of Iran on the sad occasions of Tasua and Ashura.
