700,000 Tons of Goods Loaded, Unloaded in Chabahar

ZAHEDAN, Sistan-Baluchestan Prov. - 700,000 tons of cargoes have been loaded and unloaded in the Port of Chabahar in the current Iranian year (started March 21), said the director general of the provincial ports and shipping organization Habibollah Raoufi here Monday. He told IRNA that in addition to rice, sugar and heating materials the goods included 25,000 tons of cement and clinker which were exported via the port city.
Raoufi added that so far, 300 out of a 3,000 meter long break water, has been built in Chahbahar, designed to prevent waves from disturbing loading and off-loading opertaions at the port. He said that due to lack of the break waters in the region, up to Rls.3 billion is spent on the maintenance of Chabahar's Shahid Beheshti commercial docking facilities annually.
