TEHRAN The murderer of Iranian diplomat Sadeq Ganji was hanged yesterday in Pakistan, but most observers believe that this will not close the chapter.

Pakistani Haq Nawaz assassinated martyr Ganji while he was carrying out cultural activities aimed at bringing Iran and Pakistan closer. Martyr Ganji was engaged in a noble task, cultural work meant to benefit everyone regardless of race, caste, or creed.

As Muslims, we believe that Almighty God is the Master of all of creatures. It is our duty to convey the message of the Almighty to all people, but this message must be delivered in a peaceful, tolerant way.

Many crimes have been committed against Iranian and Pakistani Shiites in Pakistan over the past few years. But this is the first time that the Pakistani government has executed one of the murderers.

The influence of the British Raj's Divide and Rule' policy can still be felt across the Indian Subcontinent, and unfortunately, this influence is still strong in Pakistan, where sectarian violence is plaguing society.

It is the duty of both the Ulema and the government to put a halt to this sectarian violence.
