LONDON Subcontractors bidding for the full production facilities at the Souroush/Nowruz offshore oil field projects in Iran have been given extra time to submit technical and commercial bids to royal Dutch/Shell. According toMiddle East Economic Digest(MEED), the additional time follows Shell carrying out last minute changes to the full production tender documents and after holding a special briefing for interested bidders in The Hague in late August.
Companies taking part in the tender, estimated to be worth $400 million, are said to include Technip of France, Anglo-Norwegian Stolt Offshore, The Hague office of ABB Lummus Global in partnership with the National Petroleum Construction Company of Abu Dhabi and South Korea's Hyundai. A consortium, led by Hyundai, was successfully awarded a subcontract, worth nearly $80 million, to build the early production facilities at Soroush and Nowruz in September. First early production from the two fields, which have combined reserves of over 1,000 million barrels of oil, is planned for late 2001. Full production of 190,000 barrels a day is to start in 2003. The bidders now have until November 27 to submit technical bids and until December 23 to submit commercial bids, meed reported.
Shell was awarded the $810 million development contract to upgrade the two offshore fields from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) in November last year.
