Iran envoy condemns terrorist attack in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
TEHRAN – Iran's ambassador to Islamabad, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has condemned the deadly terrorist attack in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, expressing condolences to the government, military, and victims' families.
In a message posted on X, Ambassador Moghadam stated his profound sadness at the loss of twelve Pakistani security personnel killed in a terrorist explosion at the Malikhel checkpoint.
While strongly condemning the act of terrorism, the ambassador reaffirmed Iran's unwavering commitment to supporting Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and maintaining regional stability.
The November 19, a suicide bombing in Bannu targeted a joint security checkpoint operated by Pakistani security forces and the Frontier Constabulary. The attack resulted in the deaths of twelve security personnel and injuries to others. Six terrorists were also killed in the ensuing engagement.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistani military's media wing, terrorists attempted to breach the checkpoint but were repelled by security forces. The suicide bombing caused structural damage, including the collapse of a section of the perimeter wall.
The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is actively investigating the attack, pursuing leads on potential suspects and motives, and working in coordination with the Pakistani military and police to enhance security measures and prevent future incidents, according to a statement published by the body.
