Israeli war on Lebanon fails: Colonial settlers’ hopes are undermined

November 16, 2024 - 19:55

BEIRUT - Since the start of the US-led Israeli genocidal war against Gaza, the colonial settlers had not hesitated to push their regime to wage a war on Lebanon as well.

The occupation regime had accordingly set 2-3 weeks for a ground attack to dismantle Hezbollah’s military capability, disarm it, and expel it beyond the Litani River.

However, nearly after two months, Hezbollah’s missile attacks on the occupied Palestinian territories have not stopped, reaching as far south as Tel Aviv and Haifa, not to mention the displacement of tens of thousands of settlers.

Hezbollah has outstandingly held out. It is backed by political and diplomatic support that is led by the unshakable steadfastness of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

Since the onset of the US-led Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023, according to unprecedented Israeli confessions, Hezbollah has destroyed about 60 Merkava tanks, bulldozers, vehicles and large drones, while about 100 occupation soldiers were killed and nearly 1,000 were injured.

Hezbollah’s rise, following the Pager and Talkie-Walkie Massacre and the assassination of Hezbollah leaders, has highly embarrassed both the Israeli military and political circles, especially as the invaders have failed to occupy any Lebanese border village, though the regime has destroyed large residential neighborhoods with American-supplied fighter jets and bombs.

Thanks to this humiliation, the settlers’ support for the aggression against Lebanon has declined from 67% to 46%, as Hezbollah’s rise has dealt a severe blow to the occupation regime’s leaders who were intoxicated by imaginary victories.

Hebrew media has published a clip of a fleeing Zionist settler asking: “Where is the victory over Hezbollah? How can a defeated organization launch 90 rockets in half an hour? No one should deceive us with imaginary victories!”

Yedioth Ahronoth has confirmed that more than 80% of small business owners in the occupied eastern Galilee and Golan are suffering from a decline of more than 65% in their financial revenues, as the aggression on Lebanon has paralyzed industry, agriculture, trade, and tourism, in addition to the daily deaths and injuries.

Yona Yahav, Haifa’s mayor, has also said Israel is facing an unprecedented economic crisis. “After Hezbollah launched about 100 rockets towards the Krayot Complex, the economy in the city is collapsing sharply, which will negatively affect all parts of Israel,” the mayor stated.

Between October 2023 and August 2024, according to data released by the Zionist regime, the Israeli government paid about 4.4 billion shekels (more than a billion USD) indirectly in compensation for damages incurred by investment companies in the occupied northern territories due to Hezbollah’s missile and drone strikes.

Obviously, the colonial settlers feel quite disappointed with the failure of Egoz and Sayeret Matkal – two of the Israeli elite forces – to make any progress in the valleys and hills of Lebanon, which are full of surprises, while Smotrich’s wailing rises as he moves from one funeral to another, exposing the terrible psychological humiliation among the Zionist occupiers.

Who knows what Hezbollah has in store for the coming days: Unexpected field and operational tactics? Capturing or assassinating Zionist soldiers and officers? Shooting down military helicopters? Counter-incursion into the occupied Palestinian territories? etc.
Hezbollah – along with other forces of the pro-Resistance Axis – will humiliate the Zionist invaders and protect their sovereign rights.
