Tehran strongly condemns deadly train station blast in Pakistan's Quetta
TEHRAN – The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the terrorist explosion at the railway station in Quetta, Pakistan, and expressed condolences to the people and government of Pakistan.
Esmaeil Baqaei, while expressing deep sympathy with the families of the victims and survivors of this crime and conveying the condolences of the Iranian government and people to the government and people of the friendly neighboring country, emphasized that these terrorist acts violate all principles and rules of legal and human rights and humanitarian standards, and are in no way justifiable.
The spokesperson of Iran’s diplomatic affairs pointed out the principled positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in firmly condemning all manifestations of terrorism and violent extremism, stating that eradicating this ominous phenomenon requires strengthening coordination and cooperation among all countries at bilateral, regional, and international levels, and emphasized our country's readiness to further enhance coordination and cooperation in this regard.
The Iranian embassy in Pakistan also condemned the terrorist attack on the train station in Quetta, Pakistan, stating that terrorism is a threat to the region that requires collective efforts to combat it.
Reza Amiri Moghadam, the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan, in a message on his page on the social media platform X, reacted to the terrorist attack on the train station in Pakistan, stating, “I strongly and decisively condemn the heinous terrorist attack at the train station in Quetta, Pakistan, which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of innocent and defenseless civilians and some security forces.”
Amiri Moghadam added, “I sincerely express my condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Pakistan, especially to the families of those who have lost their loved ones. May God Almighty have mercy on the deceased.”
According to local media reports, a gathering of soldiers from the Pakistan Army waiting to board a train was targeted. In this terrorist incident, 28 people were killed and more than 60 were injured, with the condition of many of them reported to be serious.
The terrorist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack in Quetta.
The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan provided information on its investigation into the attack, including any potential suspects or motives in cooperation with the Pakistani military and police, to enhance security measures.
The Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) is a separatist group that operates primarily in Pakistan's Baluchistan province. The BLA was formed in the early 2000s and has since carried out numerous attacks against Pakistani security forces and government targets, as well as civilian targets.
The Pakistani government officially designated the Baluchistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a terrorist organization in 2006. Since the designation, the Pakistani government has carried out several operations against the BLA, including raids on BLA hideouts, arrests of BLA members, and the use of military force against the group.
