Iran handball coach Guijosa aims Asian title
TEHRAN – Iran national handball team head coach Rafael Guijosa Castillo is looking forward to win title with Team Melli in the Asian championship.
The team will travel to Najaf, Iraq on Tuesday to play two friendly matches with Iraq.
Guijosa, 55, who experiences his second stint in the Iran national team, says that he is here to help Iran reach their goals.
“I will do my best to reach our goals. In the upcoming camp, we will test ourselves because we first analyze our team not our opponents. The camp will help us to learn more about my players,” the Spanish coach said.
“I’m happy because Iran handball team have made good progress. In my opinion, Iran’s handball have improved well over the past 10 years. One of the reasons for my return is that I have trust in the federation and the capabilities of the Iranian players. We can succeed,” Guijosa added.
“I love Iran’s culture and enjoy being in your country. I have previously lived here and I missed your beautiful country. Now, I am here and I want to work with the people who are capable of moving forward,” he said.
Guijosa helped Team Melli win a bronze medal in the Asian championship in 2014 in Bahrain and now sets his sight on upgrading the medal.
“I am not here to create a new generation but I am here to find and field the best players because we are going to win the title in the Asian championship,” Guijosa concluded.
