Iran grounds all flights amidst tensions following alleged Israeli strikes
TEHRAN - Following reports of explosions in Tehran and the interception of unidentified projectiles, Iran has grounded all flights to and from the country until further notice.
The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran announced the decision early Saturday morning, citing precautionary measures to ensure the safety and security of air travel.
The move comes after Israel announced it was targeting military sites in Iran, though no evidence of significant damage from the alleged strikes has been reported on the ground.
Explosion sounds were heard in western and eastern Tehran as well as the nearby Karaj city in the early hours of Saturday. Footage captured by citizens show Iranian defense systems intercepting unidentified projectiles in Tehran's sky.
