Cellphones imports drop 9% in 7 months yr/yr

TEHRAN – Based on the latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), some 6,720,659 cellphone handsets, valued at $1.497 billion, were imported into the country in the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20–October 21).

According to IRICA, the cell phones imported in this period registered a 16.5 percent and an 9.0 percent reduction in volume and value, respectively.

In this period, more than 6,521,446 mobile handsets were imported by commercial companies while 199,213 of the cellphone handsets were imported by passengers, IRIB reported.
