Iran vows to hold Israel accountable for assassination of IRGC commander Abbas Nilforushan
TEHRAN – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the unlawful act and egregious crime committed by the Zionist regime in the assassination of Major General Abbas Nilforushan, underscoring the need for accountability for this violent action.
In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran declared, “The assassination of IRGC Qods Force commander, Major General Abbas Nilforushan, by the Zionist regime constitutes an illegal act and an unforgivable crime. Tehran will undoubtedly leverage all its resources to hold the Zionist regime accountable for this transgression.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized its commitment to employing all available resources to ensure accountability for this act of aggression.
The statement further remarked, “The Iranian Foreign Ministry extends its heartfelt congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of the valiant and righteous commander, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforushan.”
“The assassination of this senior military figure is deemed an illegal act and an unforgivable crime, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will certainly mobilize all its resources to hold the Zionist regime accountable for this offense,” the statement concluded.
Brigadier General Abbas Nilforushan, the deputy commander of Operation Affairs for the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in Lebanon, was martyred on September 27, 2024, in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential complex in southern Beirut. The airstrike also resulted in the martyrdom of Hezbollah leader, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah.
