Body of IRGC commander Abbas Nilforooshan recovered following martyrdom in Lebanon
TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) has confirmed the recovery of the body of Commander Abbas Nilforooshan, following tireless efforts by specialized teams.
The IRGC’s public relations office issued a formal statement on Friday detailing the discovery of Nilforooshan’s body and extended its gratitude to all those involved in the operation.
was assassinated during Israeli attacks on a number of residential buildings in southern Beirut, which also killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah on September 27.
The IRGC further informed the public that preparations for the repatriation of the body to Iran are already in progress. While no specific details have been released yet, officials have assured that information regarding the transfer, as well as plans for funeral and burial ceremonies, will be shared in the coming days.
Nilforooshan had been serving as the commander of the IRGC in Lebanon, taking the role after his predecessor Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi was assassinated during an Israeli airstrike on Iran’s embassy in Damascus on April 1.
