TEHRAN – Iran’s embassy in Spain has warned that Israel will make sure to attack more UN positions in the future after two UN peacekeepers were wounded in attacks on UN peacekeeping forces' bases in southern Lebanon.
“We recently warned about the Zionist regime's threats against the UN. The bombing of UNIFEL which caused several casualties, shows that Israel could carry out even more lethal attacks, putting the UN and its forces at much greater risk,” the embassy said on its official account on X.
The UNIFIL force, which consists of a total of 10,058 peacekeepers from 50 troop-contributing countries, was created by the Security Council in March 1978 to maintain peace and security in Southern Lebanon.
