TEHRAN – Iran exported 4,856 tons of tea valued at $6.555 million in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-August 21), according to Mohammad Sadegh Hassani, the executive director of Iran’s Tea Syndicate.

The country also imported 20,170 tons of tea with an average value of $4.83 per kilogram, Hassani said.

According to the official, the government has purchased 11,500 tons of tea leaves form domestic farmers in the mentioned period, Mehr News Agency reported.
