Eslami talks bilateral nuclear cooperation with key foreign officials
TEHRAN – The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) engaged with high-ranking officials from Iraq, Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Armenia during his recent visit to Vienna.
In the Austrian capital, where he is attending the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammad Eslami held discussions with Naeem Al-Aboudi, Iraqi Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Two sides highlighted the longstanding and amicable relations between Iran and Iraq, emphasizing the importance of enhancing bilateral nuclear collaboration in areas such as radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear agriculture, and industry.
During the meeting with the Kenyan Minister of Science, Eslami expressed Iran’s willingness to share expertise in the nuclear sector and reiterated the country’s readiness to collaborate with Kenya in nuclear medicine, healthcare, and education.
The Kenyan representative acknowledged the need to improve the healthcare sector, citing the high costs associated with importing equipment and radiopharmaceuticals from Western nations, and expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation in this area.
Eslami also addressed topics such as training, nuclear regulation, and safety standards in discussions with Burkina Faso Minister of Science and Education, as well as the deputy head of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure from Armenia.
Eslami departed Tehran for Vienna on the evening of September 18, leading a delegation to participate in and deliver a speech at the conference.
The 68th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference is taking place from September 16 to 20, 2024, in Vienna, Austria.
