TEHRAN – On Monday, the Chinese ambassador held talks with Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament, to enhance bilateral cooperation.

According to ISNA, Cong Peiwu emphasized the significance of strengthening legal and parliamentary ties through bilateral discussions and judicial cooperation, as well as the need to implement the 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement.

In March 2021, the two nations entered into a 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement designed to enhance collaboration in economic, political, and strategic areas.

The 25-year Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement is anticipated to strengthen the relationship between Iran and China by promoting greater Chinese investment in Iran's oil, gas, and transportation industries, while also fostering increased cultural and diplomatic interactions.

Cong Peiwu presented his credentials to the Iranian foreign ministry in May 2024 and is presently serving as China's new ambassador to Iran.
