Belarusian president highlights Iran as key ally
TEHRAN- Belarusian president Aleksandr Lukashenko has emphasized the importance of Iran as a vital ally for Belarus.
Lukashenko made the remarks during a meeting with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) secretary in Minsk on Friday.
Lukashenko also extended an invitation for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to visit Minsk.
Belarusian president highlighted the complex global political landscape and the shift towards a multilateral system, advocating for increased collaboration between the two nations.
Lukashenko asserted that a robust economy is essential for security and called for strengthened economic ties with Iran.
He also expressed gratitude for Iran’s backing of Belarus’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS group, which he believes have opened new avenues for independent nations.
In response, Ahmadian noted the longstanding alliance between Iran and Belarus, expressing optimism for the future expansion of cooperation.
Ahmadian remarked on the global transition towards a new order, suggesting that the influence of the United States is diminishing.
In response, the Belarusian official noted that both Tehran and Minsk align in their perspectives on promoting a multipolar world, steering clear of militarism, and striving for regional peace.
