Lavrov says 30 countries seeking to join BRICS
MOSCOW- The BRICS media summit opened in Moscow on Saturday morning. The media summit is hosted by Russia’s TASS news agency.
The gathering is attended by senior media persons from BRICS countries. Tehran Times, Mehr News Agency, and IRNA from Iran have participated in the conference.
The event was opened with a video message from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his deputy Sergei Ryabkov.
Lavrov said the role of media is highly important in promoting a multipolar world in which countries have equal rights.
The BRICS summiteers will meet in the Russian city of Kazan on October 22-24.
The Russian Foreign Minister said that more than 30 countries have requested to join the economic bloc and their request is being studied.
