TEHRAN-The Iranian puppet show “My Imaginary Skirt” written and directed by Behnaz Mahdikhah will be performed at the 7th Beijing International Puppet Festival, underway in China from September 6 to October 6.

Mahdikhah, who is also the performer and puppet designer for the show, will perform the play for three consecutive days, from September 13 to 15, ILNA reported.

A production of the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (known as Kanoon), the play tells the story of an actress who talks about her colorful world. In her childhood, she had an accident changing her black-and-white sphere into a colorful world like a rainbow.

In this play, she takes the audience to her childhood village to rediscover the beauty of nature. Singing birds and plants, meeting with the Earth, swimming in a river around the village, sleeping under the village’s starry sky, and the images present on the little girl’s skirt help her enjoy the beauty of the environment. It leads the audience to better see and hear the beauty of the surrounding environment and God’s blessings.

“My Imaginary Skirt” has so far been performed at various national and international events and won several awards in Iran, Turkey, and Georgia as well.

Mahdikhah will also hold a specialized puppet designing workshop for teenagers during the month-long festival.

A total of 13 troupes from eight countries are present at this year’s edition of the Beijing International Puppet Festival. Besides Iran, there are troupes from France, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Uruguay, and China at the Chinese event.
