TEHRAN - Representatives from over 20 Muslim countries convened in Damghan, Iran, to mark the life and legacy of the late Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. 

The event, titled the "Ninth Conference of the Mujahideen in Exile," recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the Muslim world. 

Amir Abdollahian, who served as executive secretary for the previous eight conferences, was honored for his dedication to the Palestinian cause, a cause he championed throughout his tenure in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The Tuesday ceremony saw the participation of prominent Iranian figures, including a message from President Masoud Pezeshkian, who expressed his support for the Palestinian cause, echoing Amir Abdollahian's unwavering commitment.

“Over the course of nearly half a century, the legacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has consistently championed justice and advocated human rights globally, has been to fully support the oppressed Palestinian nation's resistance against the Zionist usurper regime, as well as the struggle of all the oppressed nations in the world.

I believe that we should always consider ourselves committed to seeking justice and support freedom-seekers and also the oppressed in any circumstance, because justice-seeking on the part of the elite and awakened consciences can lay a good ground for realizing a bright future,” the President said.

Pezeshkian also lauded Amir Abdollahian as “a distinguished diplomat and a true embodiment of resistance diplomacy” as well as “a strong and intelligent negotiator.”

Amir Abdollahian, along with the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, lost his life during a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran in May.
