Foreign Ministry summons British diplomat over anti-Iran sanctions
TEHRAN – Following Britain’s sanctions against three Iranian individuals and an institution under the pretext of causing instability in the West Asia region, the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday summoned the British charge d’affairs to declare the Islamic Republic’s protest to the move.
The Foreign Ministry said the move is in contravention to the claims by the new British government that its policy is based on “interaction and cooperation”.
The ministry said “all know that the greatest source of insecurity in the region is the Zionist occupation regime” which relies on the “full-scale political and military support" of some self-declared supporters of stability, including Britain, in the West Asia region.
These countries’ backing for “the genocide against Palestinians by the Israeli regime” and their efforts to let “war criminal” Benjamin Netanyahu to go "unpunished" form the cornerstone of "instability and insecurity in the region.”
The United States has threatened to introduce sanctions against The Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICC) whose chief prosecutor has demanded arrest warrants against Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, for war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
