Rahimi wins Iran’s first medal in 2024 Paralympics

PARIS - Female taekwondo athlete Zahra Rahimi won Iran’s first silver medal in the 2024 Paralympic Games.
The 16-year-athlete lost to Mongolia’s Ulambayar Surenjav 5-2 in the final match of k44-52kg.
Rahimi had defeated China’s Shao Qian 13-2, Brazilian Maria Eduarda Machado 6-4 and Georgian Ana Japaridze 6-0 on her way to the final.
Rahimi is the youngest member of Iran Paralympic delegation.
Bronze medal matches went to Japaridze and Turkey’s Meryem Betül Çavdar.
Taekwondo at the 2024 Summer Paralympics is being held at the Grand Palais.
Iran has sent 65 athletes in 10 sports to the Games.
