IRGC chief reiterates commitment to avenging Haniyeh's assassination
TEHRAN- The chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to taking action against the Zionist regime in response to its offenses on Iranian territory.
Major General Hossein Salami made these remarks during an inspection of the Khosravi border crossing with Iraq on Saturday.
When questioned by reporters about Iran's reaction to the Israeli assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, the senior IRGC official stated, “You will hear good news about revenge, God willing.”
General Salami was at the Khosravi border in Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah province, overseeing the influx of Arbaeen pilgrims. He was accompanied by a crowd of pilgrims who were chanting slogans such as “death to Israel” and demanding justice for the martyrdom of Haniyeh, while also engaging in discussions about the quality of services offered to the pilgrims.
After the assassination of Ismael Haniyeh in Tehran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has pledged a harsh response to the Israeli regime for this audacious act of violence on Iranian territory.
Ismael Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were martyred when their residence in Tehran was attacked on July 31, shortly after they attended President Masoud Pezeshkian’s inauguration ceremony.
