‘United States supporting Zionist crimes in Gaza’: Iran’s FM
TEHRAN- Iran's acting foreign minister has asserted that the United States plays a role in the crimes committed by the Zionist regime and cannot be viewed as an impartial mediator due to its provision of military support to the regime.
“In a recent phone conversation with Qatar's foreign minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, we discussed the developments following the second day of negotiations aimed at halting the genocidal actions of the Zionist regime in Gaza,” Ali Bagheri Kani shared on his X account on Friday evening.
Bagheri highlighted the discussions and outcomes from the talks in Doha, where Al Thani outlined the current challenges and barriers to achieving an agreement that would put an end to the atrocities committed by the occupying forces in Gaza.
“I cautioned against the deceit and treachery of the criminal regime in Tel Aviv and their primary backer, the United States, during the negotiations,” Bagheri stated.
He further emphasized that the United States is complicit in the crimes against the residents of Gaza by supplying arms to the Zionists and therefore cannot act as a neutral mediator. “I also stressed the importance of utilizing all available resources to compel the Zionist aggressors to cease their massacre and crimes in the Gaza Strip,” Bagheri added.
On Friday, Egypt, Qatar, and the United States issued a joint statement indicating that high-ranking officials from the three nations are scheduled to reconvene in Cairo before the conclusion of next week for another round of discussions, to achieve a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Following the release of this statement, Hamas declared that it would only consent to an agreement that results in a lasting ceasefire, the full withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, and a substantial prisoner exchange.
