Pezeshkian names Araqchi as foreign minister: report
TEHRAN- An informed source revealed that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has decided on his picks for three ministries, including the foreign ministry.
As reported by Tasnim News, an informed source stated that Masoud Pezeshkian has finalized three names for his proposed ministerial appointments, which will be presented to the Parliament for a vote of confidence on August 11.
The source revealed that Iran’s president plans to nominate Abbas Araqchi as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Brigadier General Aziz Nasir Zadeh as the Minister of Defense, and Esmaeil Khatib as the Minister of Intelligence.
The source also mentioned that the final decision for the Interior Minister position will be made on Friday.
Khatib currently serves as the Minister of Intelligence, while General Nasir Zadeh holds the position of deputy chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. Araqchi previously served as deputy foreign minister under former President Hassan Rouhani.
The vote of confidence meeting to select ministers for the new government is scheduled for Sunday, August 11.
