Iran’s Nematzadeh grabs bronze in taekwondo: 2024 Paris

TEHRAN – Mobina Nematzadeh of Iran claimed a bronze medal in the women's 49kg taekwondo played out inside Paris' spectacular Grand Palais on Wednesday.

Nematzadeh defeated Saudi Arabia’s taekwondo athlete 2-0 to win the bronze medal.

She defeated Michelle TauIn 2-0 from Lesotho in the round of 16.

Nematzadeh then defeated Adriana Cerezo Iglesias of Spain, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist and 2023 world bronze medalist, 2-0 in quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Nematzadeh faced Guo Qing but suffered a 2-0 loss against the Chinese athlete.

Thailand’s Panipak Wongpattanakit won the gold medal, defeating Qing 2-1 in the final.
