NIGC pays $138m to encourage investment in development of renewable powerplants
TEHRAN- National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has paid 80 trillion rials (about $138 million) to support and encourage investment making in development of renewable power plants in the country since the current government took office in August 2021, the company’s managing director announced.
Majid Chegeni said that of the mentioned figure, 25 trillion rials (about $43.1 million) was expended in the Iranian calendar year 1400 (March 2021-March 2022), and 30 trillion rials (about $51.7 million) was paid in the Iranian calendar year 1401 (March 2022-March 2023).
The official also announced that the current year’s national budget has allocated 30 trillion rials (about $51.7 million) for the development of renewable powerplants, adding that based on the data released by Iran's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (known as SATBA), over 18 trillion rials (about $31 million) has been paid for 57 renewable powerplants in the current Iranian calendar month (began on June 21).
Referring to Iran's suitable condition for generating solar energy and the 28 percent rise in renewable electricity generation, Chegeni said that using renewable energies is a sustainable solution to the country's power supply.
NIGC’s managing director has previously emphasized that diversification of a country's power generation is essential to improving economic growth, reaching power security, and decreasing environmental hazards.
