Iran’s foreign policy to continue pursuing demands of nation: Baqeri
TEHRAN – The acting Foreign Minister of Iran says the country’s foreign policy apparatus continues to actively pursue the demands of the country, its people, and the community.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Ali Baqeri Kani said, "The Foreign Ministry's activities remain vigorous. Next week, we will host the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) conference in Tehran, with participation from 32 member countries."
Addressing accusations from the European Union and the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding Iran's commitments, Baqeri stated, "Iran adheres to all its obligations under the NPT and the Safeguards Agreement. There are no violations. The IAEA's monitoring and inspection mechanisms are in place. If the other parties fail to comply with the JCPOA, we are also entitled to not fulfill our commitments, as stipulated in the JCPOA."
Baqeri Kani also underscored the effective coordination between military operations and diplomacy over the past three years and under the late President Ebrahim Raisi.
He continued, "Under late Raisi's administration, the Foreign Ministry's achievements are widely acknowledged. These include reducing tensions with neighboring and regional countries, emphasizing the neighborhood policy as highlighted by the Supreme Leader, stabilizing Iran's position in global multilateral mechanisms like BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and leveraging international capacities."
He highlighted Iran's significant role in the international arena, stating, "When Iran exercised its right to self-defense against Zionist crimes, the U.S. and Zionists could not use any international capacity against us. The coordination between military operations and diplomacy has been a reality for the past three years. Without military operations, diplomacy would merely be a platform for declaring positions. These two must work together, which has been successfully established."
In conclusion, Baqeri said, "Resistance in the region has now become a norm, showcasing the art of Iranian diplomacy. The thirteenth administration's efforts, alongside the sacrifices of late President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, are evident to all, and I hope these achievements will be cherished."
On May 19, a helicopter carrying the Iranian President Raisi and Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian crashed into the mountains in the East Azarbaijan province of Iran, cusing the death of all those on board.
Rescuers found the wreckage of the helicopter after hours of extensive search which involved more than 70 teams.
