Iran archer Fallah secures silver and 2024 Paris berth

TEHRAN – Iranian female archer Mobina Fallah clinched a quota place for Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Antalya, Turkey on Sunday.

She lost to Indian archer Bhajan Kaur in recurve women’s individual final and won a silver medal in the event. Fallah also secured her nation’s first ticket.

However, each nation may win a maximum of one place, www.worldarchery.sport reported.  

Iran were joined by India, Poland, Moldova, Slovakia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan in recurve women’s individual line-up in Paris after their athletes’ successes in the Final Olympic Qualifier.

Iran will be hoping to put up a strong show in Paris after Fallah played one of the best matches of her career in Antalya on Sunday.

Before her final appearance, Fallah finished with a perfect 30 after a nervy 7, 10, 8 in the first set against Kazakhstan's Avdeyeva Yelizaveta in her fourth round match.

“It was the fourth time I came close to get an Olympic ticket. I 'm very happy to finally get it,” said Fallah.

More Olympic quotas will be up for grabs in the recurve men’s individual event however only nations that have not yet won a quota place in the respective gender may compete.
