Hezbollah targets Iron Dome battery in Golan Heights
Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement has conducted a drone strike against an Israeli military outpost in the occupied Golan Heights in support of Palestinians amid the Tel Aviv regime’s unrelenting ground and aerial offensives in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Mayadeen television news channel, citing a Hezbollah statement, reported that the group launched a squadron of kamikaze drones towards a gathering of Israeli troops stationed at the Yarden barracks on Sunday, and targeted an Iron Dome battery with the explosive-laden unmanned aerial vehicles.
The statement added that the radar systems at the barracks were destroyed and put out of service as a result of the attack. A number of Israeli troops were also killed and wounded, Press TV reported.
Later in the day, the Lebanese resistance fighters attacked the Israeli al-Marj site with a barrage of artillery shells, precisely striking the designated targets.
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) also confirmed on Saturday that one of its drones was shot down over southern Lebanon, the Times of Israel reported.
It said the drone, reportedly a Hermes 900 model, was hit by a surface-to-air missile while operating in the area.
The IOF says the incident is being investigated.
It marks the fourth IDF drone to be shot down by Hezbollah over southern Lebanon amid the war. In all, two Hermes 450 drones and two Hermes 900 models have been downed in recent months.
