TEHRAN- Two new collections of selected poems by Syrian diplomat and poet Nizar Qabbani have recently published in Persian. 

Yadollah Goudarzi is the translator of the collections “Blue Inclined to Love”, and “Your Love Is a Green Bird”, which have been published by Gouya Publications in Tehran. 

"The most complete collection of Qabbani's poems and couplets has been published in Iran. Prior to this, five books from this series had been published, and recently two more works were released at the Tehran International Book Fair, which are now available in bookstores for interested readers," ISNA quoted Goudarzi as saying on Saturday. 

Qabbani has a large number of fans in Iran who are fascinated by his love for Iran and Iranian mysticism. Some translators have even taken the trouble to translate his poems from English into Persian, he added. 

However, these new collections have been translated from the original language into Persian, with an effort to preserve the poetic features of the original works rather than turning them into mere literary pieces, he mentioned. 

Nizar Qabbani (1923-1998) was a renowned Syrian poet, writer, and diplomat. He was born in the city of Al-Rastan, Syria, and grew up in a family of modest means. Qabbani's early life was marked by a passion for literature and poetry, and he began writing his own verse at a young age. He went on to study law in Cairo, where he became involved in the Arab nationalist movement and began to develop his unique style, which blended traditional Arabic forms with modern themes and sensibilities.

Throughout his career, Qabbani was celebrated for his lyrical and romantic poetry, which often explored themes of love, loss, and social justice. His poetry was characterized by its accessibility, its use of everyday language, and its ability to speak to the experiences and emotions of ordinary people. He was awarded numerous honors, including 1992–1993 Al Owais Award for Cultural & Scientific Achievements. His poetry was translated into many languages, including French, English, Spanish, and German, and he was celebrated as a leading figure in Arabic literature. Qabbani's work was widely anthologized and studied in universities around the world, and he was a frequent guest at literary festivals and conferences.
