Iran’s course will not change despite latest tragedy: Leader
TEHRAN – In a meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted Iran’s determination to carry on the path initiated by the late President Ebrahim Raisi.
“Despite this loss, the country's course will not change, and the same spirit of affection and confidence between Iran and Qatar that prevailed during the reign of the late president will continue under Dr. Mokhber,” the Leader explained.
He pointed out the regional conditions and the efforts of enemies to disrupt stability and peace. “Regional countries have no other option but to support and show solidarity with each other,” he stated.
Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed gratitude for Qatar’s solidarity and sympathy over the demise of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, on his end, expressed that the longstanding ties between Iran and Qatar have always been strong and will continue to remain robust.
He considered cooperation and unity among regional countries as the only way to counter existing threats in the region. “We do not set any limits on expanding relations with Iran,” the Qatari Emir noted.
President Raisi placed great emphasis on fostering and expanding diplomatic ties with neighboring and regional countries. During his presidency, Iran's long-standing relationship with Qatar witnessed a remarkable strengthening, reaching new heights of cooperation.
Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian played a pivotal role in this diplomatic endeavor, frequently consulting with Qatari officials on a wide range of issues. He undertook multiple visits to the Persian Gulf nation over the past three years, contributing to unprecedented levels of dialogue and understanding between Iran and Qatar.
This enhanced engagement extended beyond bilateral relations, as Minister Abdollahian also played a key role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and other Arab states.
