Tajikistan’s Rahmon in Iran to attend late Raisi’s funeral ceremony

TEHRAN - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has landed in Tehran to attend a funeral ceremony for Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi, who was martyred in a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province on Sunday.    

Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Presidential Adviser for Foreign Ties, and some other high-ranking Tajik state officials have also arrived in Iran for the ceremony that will be held on May 23 in the Iranian city of Mashhad.

President Raisi, who took office in August of 2021, visited Tajikistan twice during his tenure. His trip to Tajikistan on September 16, 2021, marked his first-ever foreign visit as the president.
