Iran grieves as helicopter crash claims lives of President, FM
TEHRAN – Following the devastating helicopter crash that tragically claimed the lives of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his accompanying delegation, people from all corners of Iran took to the streets to mourn the sudden and heartbreaking loss of the nation’s chief executive.
From the capital Tehran to Tabriz, Semnan, Mashhad, Rasht, and beyond, crowds gathered in public squares and streets, their sorrow palpable as they paid tribute to President Raisi and his team.
In Tehran, the mourners gathered at iconic Valiasr Square on Monday to mourn the martyrdom of the Iranian president.
As the nation collectively mourned, messages of support and sympathy flooded social media platforms, with citizens offering comfort and solidarity to one another in the face of this immense tragedy.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, the country’s foreign minister, and others have been found dead at the site of a helicopter crash after an hourslong search through a foggy, mountainous region of the country’s northwest.
The incident took place when President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and other officials were returning from Azerbaijan on Sunday, where a dam was inaugurated on the Aras River.
Following the tragic martyrdom of Iranian president, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei declared a 5-day mourning in Iran.
