TEHRAN - The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, has announced that Iran will assist Venezuela in deploying medical accelerators, following a request from the Venezuelan government.

Eslami noted that Venezuelan hospitals possess accelerators that are currently inoperative due to Western sanctions. 

He emphasized Iran's readiness to cooperate internationally, particularly with neighboring countries and those engaging with Tehran, in fields such as education, research, services, and technology.

A meeting took place between an AEOI deputy and the Venezuelan Deputy Minister of Science and Technology to enhance technological and scientific collaboration. 

The discussions aimed to advance specialized and technical cooperation. 

The AEOI deputy also met with Alberto Jose Quintero, Venezuela's Deputy Technology Minister and Head of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC), along with the Venezuelan ambassador and the accompanying delegation.

On November 20, 2022, a meeting was held between Dr. Rahim Sorouri, Director of Pasteur Institute of Iran, and Dr. Gabriela Jimenez, Vice President and Minister of Science and Technology of Venezuela. The parties emphasized the need to expand cooperation.
 
At the beginning of the meeting, Gabriela Jimenez expressed her gratitude to the Pasteur Institute of Iran for exporting BCG and Hepatitis B vaccines to this country. 

He called for increased scientific and technical collaboration with the Pasteur Institute of Iran and expressed hope that the export of vaccines from the institute to Venezuela would continue. 

She said that during the visit of her colleagues to the Pasteur Institute of Iran, she had been informed of the technical and scientific capacities of this center. 

In the meeting, Dr. Rahim Sorouri, while expressing the capabilities of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, emphasized the increase of cooperation between the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Venezuela in the fields of production, research, and education.

Furthermore, the Director of Pasteur Institute of Iran and that of Venezuela Scientific Research Institute, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), expressed their desire for a sustainable scientific partnership in the field of vaccines and other pharmaceutical products, biological research, as well as improving educational systems based on the best national and international standards.
 
Earlier on the same day, Dr. Mahdi Paryan, the Deputy Director of Production of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, and Dr. Jesus Brito, the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Venezuela, had a meeting in which they both emphasized the cooperation of the two countries. The Deputy Director of production of the Pasteur Institute of Iran announced the readiness of the Pasteur Institute of Iran to export vaccines, diagnostic kits, and injection solutions, and discussed the readiness of the Pasteur Institute of Iran to hold workshops and training courses in the field of quality control, ensuring vaccine quality, the production and formulation processes of biological products and vaccines, and the technology transfer of vaccines.
