TEHRAN - The Qiz Qalasi Dam, a collaborative effort between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan constructed on the Aras River, is set to be inaugurated on Sunday by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
During a one-day visit to northwest Iran, the two presidents will officially open the dam, which is the largest and most significant border water project in the region.
The dam regulates 2 billion cubic meters of water annually.
The project is expected to boost economic and agricultural development, promote tourism in the region, secure Iran's water rights from border sources, and provide drinking water to nearby cities and villages.
